“Why Join NMAER?” 

q       NMAER represents all educational retirees in New Mexico. 

q       NMAER is the advocate for New Mexico retirees.  For more than 60 years it has been the only agency in the state whose sole purpose is to promote the quality of life of retired educators in New Mexico. 

q       NMAER keeps members informed about important matters affecting them through newsletters, phone calls, e-mails, and unit meetings. 

q       NMAER is at the forefront in protecting  Pensions and Health Care Benefits as well as other retiree benefits.

q       NMAER monitors legislation that affects educational retirees.  A strong legislative team serves as a watchdog. 

q       NMAER has 32 units in New Mexico with a growing membership of over 7100.

q       NMAER membership is an investment in your future! Dues are affordable—only $25 per year, and the dues can be automatically deducted from your monthly retirement pension check. Active employees can join as an Associate member for $5 

q       NMAER influences the legislative process as it affects health care, retirement, and cost of living adjustment helping older retirees.  NMAER also advocates on behalf of active educational employees, including salaries, working conditions and other issues.  

q       NMAER guards the interests of retirees by having a member on the Retiree Health Care Authority Board of Directors, the Educational Retirement Board, and other statewide committees.  

q       NMAER provides benefits, available only to NMAER members, such as discounts on car rentals, Dell Computers, vacation accommodations and other commonly used services.
