UNM CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
CHILD LIFE DEPARTMENT
FAMILY SERVICE PROGRAM (FSP)
Volunteers Needed
The FSP serves to meet the needs of patients and families in the Pediatric Infusion Unit, an outpatient clinic where children come to receive any intravenous treatment including chemotherapy and dialysis. Many of the patients are falling behind in school or have had to drop out due to their illness. As part of our mission, we are seeking volunteer tutors with a background in education to assist the patients (ages 4-18) with homework projects, or in subjects areas in which they may be having difficulty. Volunteers have access to many educational materials and also help with reading, playing games or other fun activities. This is a perfect opportunity for those who have a strong desire to encourage learning and education in the hospital setting while serving as a positive role model for the children
